We created a new and improved website for The Rum Story – here’s what we’ve done and why.
Why have we changed the website?
It was time for us to create an online experience that would bring The Rum Story to life for our local community and visitors. We also want to inspire more people to visit by showing off everything that makes this wonderful attraction and its facilities so unique.
What’s new?
We improved our navigation to make it quicker for you to find what you want. We made the website more accessible with clear, easy to read wording, fonts and colours. We are using much larger, high quality images. And we added lots of new information and content about The Rum Story and what you can see and do here.

You can explore all the different areas of the attraction and delve deeper into some of the fascinating facts and characters you’ll encounter here.
You can plan your visit and find out about parking, get directions and learn about the facilities we have. We’ve also added information about hiring The Rum Story for events, parties, away days, meetings, weddings and filming. And we’ve added a new section called What’s on so you find out about upcoming events at the attraction.
The other thing you’ll notice is that there is now a new section called Stories where you can read interesting articles around the themes we explore at The Rum Story. From spirit making and seafaring to local history and Whitehaven’s role in the trade of enslaved people.
Soon, you’ll also be able to book your tickets for The Rum Story online before you visit.
