AccessAble guide
We’ve worked with AccessAble so you can check our facilities before your visit. Their surveyors assessed our venue to create a Detailed Access Guide. You can view the guide for The Rum Story and Jefferson’s Shop on the AccessAble website.
Information and ticket desk
You can find the information and ticket desk in the courtyard on the ground floor. Our team is happy to help with any questions.
Wheelchairs and mobility scooters
This attraction is wheelchair and mobility scooter-friendly.
Assistance dogs
We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs in the attraction.
Lift access and stairs
You can usually use the lift to reach all floors. However, the lift to the second and third floors is currently out of order.
We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to fix it as soon as possible.
Access to the boardroom and education suite
There are a few steps to reach the boardroom and education suite after you leave the lift. This is because of the historic layout of the building.
Seating
Seating is available throughout the attraction and in the Courtyard Cafe.
Toilets
There are wheelchair accessible toilets available on the ground floor and in The Vault event space.
Baby changing
Baby changing facilities are available in the disabled toilet on the ground floor.
Cafe and shop
The cafe and shop are both located on the ground floor.
Accessible parking
Disabled visitors are welcome to park directly outside the museum, free of charge.
Essential companions and carers
Carers must present valid proof of their carer status to access The Rum Story using a carer ticket. Please note, free carer tickets are not valid for carers visiting independently. For a list of what we consider as acceptable forms of evidence of carer status, please refer to our Essential Companion/Carer Policy.
