Fragments of Belonging is a fascinating and thoughtful exhibition of film and art by local artist, Anne Blankson-Hemans, at the Rosehill Theatre until the 24th April. It explores belonging, migration and Whitehaven’s global connections to Cape Coast in Ghana and Antigua in the Caribbean.
It asks questions that get you thinking deeply … What does home mean? What does belonging look and feel like? If you have lived somewhere all your life do you automatically feel a sense of belonging there? It brings home Whitehaven’s history, the impacts it had on people’s lives, and present day legacies.
Anne has been a member of the advisory group that has been helping to shape The Rum Story Re-Imagined Project over the last year. You can find out more about the exhibition by reading her blog
