Rum Story visitors want to discover more local history – personal stories told by ordinary folk. Can you help us with this?
Come to our Oral Histories Day! Here’s a flyer about it. Everyone is welcome. Have a chat with our friendly team and allow us to capture your precious memories relating to The Rum Story, Whitehaven and surrounding areas on camera. We want to preserve these memories and share them with generations to come.
- Maybe you loved hearing The Rum Story clock chime as a child?
- Maybe your family worked for the Jeffersons?
- Maybe your ancestors are from the Caribbean or Antigua where Jeffersons rum was made?
- Maybe your parents sent you to the Jeffersons’s shop for rum every Christmas?
- Maybe you remember the harbour festivals of the 90s?
- Maybe your relatives worked down the mines or on the docks?
As a thank you, enjoy free coffee, cake and entry to the attraction while you’re here too.
Your story matters. It’s living history.
